The rules of working together. Making an account means you accept them. They are written to be read once, before you pay, in sentences that mean what they say.

What Second Unit does

You write a brief, we make the video, and we send it back as a link. The footage is generated and the cut is made by a person. It is a service done for you, with no software to log into and no tool to learn.

What each plan includes, how many videos, how long they run, which aspect ratios, is on the plan page inside your account. Those numbers are part of these terms.

Your account, and the owner saying yes

Anyone can register. An account made without an invite code can log in, confirm its address, read the prices and draft a brief, but it cannot send that brief or pay until the owner approves it by hand. An account made through an invite link is approved the moment it exists, which is what the link is for.

Confirm your email address; almost nothing works until you do. Keep your password to yourself, use an address you actually read, and tell us the same day if you think somebody else has got into the account. One person per account.

We can decline a signup or close an account. If we close yours while an order is running and you have not broken the rules below, the money comes back.

The brief is the spec

What we make is what the brief says. Be specific about the product, the audience, the platform, the length, the aspect ratios, what has to be on screen and what must never be. Vague in, vague out, and the brief is what we both look at when there is an argument.

References come in as links. Keep them reachable until the job is delivered, because a dead link on the day we start stops the clock.

If the brief is too thin to work from we will ask rather than guess. If the brief changes after we have started, that is a new order, not a revision. See refunds and revisions.

You pay first, and a person confirms it

Everything here is pay-first. No work starts before a payment is confirmed, and no order can be sent before the owner has approved the account.

Confirmation is done by hand. A card gateway or a bank can only report that money moved; the owner checks it against the account and marks the order paid, and that moment is what starts the job. It is usually hours. It is never automatic, whatever a gateway email says.

Prices are in USD and you see them before you order. A special request is quoted from the brief and the quote holds for what it says on it. Whatever your bank or card issuer charges you on top, currency conversion, transfer fees, is yours.

What counts as one video

One finished cut at one length, up to the ceiling on your plan, which runs to 60 seconds at the top end. The same cut re-framed for another aspect ratio is not a second video and comes with the plan. A different edit, a different hook or a different product is a second video.

What counts as a revision

One round of notes, sent in one message. We work through the lot and send back a new cut. Three notes sent an hour apart are three rounds, so save them up. How many rounds your plan carries, and the plans with an open window instead of a count, are on refunds and revisions.

When the turnaround clock starts

At payment confirmation, with the brief and the references already in hand. Not when you send the brief, and not when a gateway says it took your money. Turnaround runs from 36 to 72 hours depending on the plan.

If we are waiting on you, for an answer, a working reference link, an asset you said was coming, the clock waits with us.

Delivery is a link. Download what we send and keep your own copy. We do not promise a delivery link stays alive for ever.

The footage is generated, and we say so

The shots are made with AI video models and then cut, graded and mixed by a person. There is no camera crew and no location shoot unless the brief says so and we have agreed it in writing.

Generated footage does odd things. Hands, text on signs, a logo that drifts a frame. That is what revisions are for, and we would rather you sent the note than lived with it. We use whichever models do the job best on the day; if a particular model matters to you, put it in the brief.

Nobody can promise a generated shot is unlike every other generated shot in the world, and we do not. What you are buying is the finished cut made to your brief.

Some platforms make you label AI content when you post it. That label is yours to apply, and we will tell you what went into a job if you need to fill in a form.

What you send has to be yours to send

By sending a brief and its references you are telling us you have the right to use what is in them: the product, the logo, the footage, the music, the script, anybody’s face or voice. You are also telling us the brief does not ask us to break the law or step on somebody else’s rights.

If a claim turns up over something you gave us, it is yours to answer, and you cover what it costs us. We will tell you the moment we hear about it.

Who owns the finished video

You do, from the moment the payment is confirmed and the cut is delivered. Use it anywhere, for as long as you like, with no extra fee and nothing to renew. On the plans that include source files, those are yours too.

We keep the working files, prompts and project setups for our own records and for the revisions on your order. They are not part of what you bought unless the plan says so.

We take no rights over the material you supplied beyond what is needed to make and deliver your video. And we do not show your work anywhere. There is no portfolio on this site, deliberately.

What we will not make

No brief, at any price, for:

  • anything illegal where it will be published, or aimed at getting somebody else to break the law
  • hate aimed at people for who they are
  • deception: a fake endorsement, invented news, a scam, a made-up medical or financial claim, anything built to mislead the person watching
  • work that infringes somebody’s copyright, trademark or design
  • sexual content involving anyone under 18, in any form, generated or otherwise
  • a real person’s face, voice or likeness without their written consent
  • harassment of a named person or a small identifiable group

We can refuse a brief for any of these and we do not have to explain at length. Refused before work starts, you get the money back. If something on that list got through on a brief that misdescribed it, we pull the delivery, keep the money and close the account. Material involving minors goes to the authorities.

Refunds and revisions

Full refund before work starts, revisions instead of a refund once a cut is with you, and a refund in full if we take the money and never deliver. The detail, including what counts as a revision and how many your plan carries, is on refunds and revisions, which is part of these terms.

What we are on the hook for

If we get an order wrong, the most you can get from us is what you paid for that order. That is the ceiling on everything together: the refund, the recut, any claim of any kind arising out of that job.

We are not liable for money you did not make, a campaign that missed its date, time you spent, or what a platform decides to do with your video once you upload it.

None of this removes a right you hold by law that cannot be signed away. Where the law says we owe you something regardless, we owe it.

No promise about results

We promise cuts that match the brief, delivered inside the turnaround. We do not promise views, clicks, sales, or that anything goes viral, because nobody can and anybody who does is guessing with your money. The site and the service come as they are; we keep them running and fix what breaks, and we do not promise they never break.

Ending it

Stop using the account whenever you like, and write to us if you want it deleted. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, does not pay, or sends a brief from the list above. If we close yours, work already paid for and not yet delivered is refunded, unless it was closed over that list.

If we disagree

Write first, to hello@secondunit.video, and say plainly what went wrong. Most of it is a misunderstanding about a brief and one email settles it. Give us thirty days to put it right before taking it anywhere else, and we will do the same for you.

If it still cannot be settled, it falls under the law of the place where Second Unit is established at the time, and the courts of that place. We are not naming a country here because the business does not yet have one to name, and we would rather say that than print something untrue.

When these terms change

The date at the top moves. An order already confirmed runs under the terms in force when you paid for it, so nothing changes under a job in progress. Carrying on using the account after a change means you accept the new version.

How to reach a person

hello@secondunit.video, or the message thread on the order itself, which is faster while a job is live.

What we know about you and who can see it is in the privacy policy.
